Yes, I know that genetics play a huge role in longevity, but it’s up to you on how healthy you are as you age.
I know that we have all heard over the years to eat your apple a day, get in 30 minutes of exercise daily, sleep 8 + hours a night and don’t forget to get your recommended shots. These are great and notable tips for aging well, but there are some other considerable tips to help increase your chances for living a longer life.

Stick To It: Start changing bad habits into healthier ones. It’s never to late to start over or turn a page and start a new chapter. Adjusting to better, healthier habits now can potentially lead to reversing cell aging. The secret to success is found in your daily routines.

Laughter Is More Than Medicine For the Soul: Studies show that laughing can be an antidote for lessening stress and pain and boosting your immune system.

Good Night Sleep Tight: Sleeping is vital for your body to repair from the day’s work. Plus it helps you think more clearly and can help with premature skin aging.
I’m like 4 days past my bedtime and already thinking about the nap I want to take tomorrow! 😉

Move Naturally: Start walking more. Can you walk to where you need to go? Can you park further out? Can you take the stairs or walk the escalator versus taking the elevator?
I really need to do more cardio, Oh look… front row parking!! 😉
Healthy Weight Maintenance: Put down the take out menu and pick up your pots and pans and cook at home! Don’t skip breakfast or any meals. Snack more often and watch your portion sizes. Drink your water.
I hate when I think I’m buying organic veggies, and discover I brought home donuts instead. 😉
Abs are cool but have you ever tried stuffed crust pizza?? 😉
Take Your Vacation Days: Don’t worry, beach happy. Studies show your work and overall stress will decline. Take care of yourself and pamper your needs.
I need a 6 month vacation twice a year. 😉

Take Time To Reflect: Strive daily to live out your dreams and purpose. Schedule time each day or week to reflect on the good habits and bad habits. How did you do? When becoming aware of the changes that are necessary to make, you will put forth extra effort into achieving it. Volunteering has made a positive impact on living longer.
When life shuts a door… open it again. It’s a door. That’s how they work. 😉
Get Up: Sitting less and staying busy throughout the day can add a few more years to your life.
Behind every successful person is a butt that they moved to get them there. 😉
Annual Checkups: Yep, I’m saying this. Go to the doctor for your annual exams and specific screenings especially when showing any signs or symptoms.
Patient: My doc is concerned with my high blood pressure. I told him next time don’t leave me sitting in the waiting room for 2 hours. 😉
Carve Out The Time For Exercise: whether just for you or for the whole family, schedule in exercise as an event on your calendar. If you schedule it in and makes plans, you most likely will stick to it. Time management is a problem. Motivation is another issue. Then there’s the lofty list of additional excuses as to why many people do not exercise enough throughout the week.
I would lose weight, but I hate losing. 😉
My favorite exercise is a cross between a lunge and a crunch… it’s called LUNCH 😉
Prep Your Bag: if you take workout clothes with you, you are more likely to workout. Buy an extra set of toiletries to leave in your gym bag, and prep your bag with the essentials needed for a great sweat sesh. Put your packed bag or even just your tennis shoes by the front door to ensure you don’t forget it or to alert you to get in your exercise.

Designate Space for Quiet Time: Designate a space in your home for you to destress, unwind, mediate and or pray, read, relax or just sit in silence. Live a spiritual life.

Stay Connected with Your Tribe: We all have those certain friends in our lives that are reaching the same goals and aspirations we have set. They often are the same ones that are compatible with your moral and ethic code. These people are the ones who lift you up and push you to strive for your best. Stay connected to these specific people. For me, many of these people are friends that live very far away, but that doesn’t affect our relationship.
You laugh, I laugh. You cry, I cry. You jump off a really high cliff, I yell, “Do a flip” 😉
Stretch and Say Ohmm: Yoga is wonderful for helping with one’s balance, flexibility and lowering stress and anxiety.
To reduce stress, I do yoga. Just kidding… I drink wine in my yoga pants. 😉
